Welcome

Samish River SunsetA Farmer's Welcome ...

Dear Friends,

A warm welcome and thank you for visiting our site.

Over one hundred and twenty years ago my grandfather Robert, together with his parents, brothers and sisters, settled in the beautiful Skagit Valley of Washington State after immigrating from Ireland a few years before. They applied their knowledge of potato farming to Skagit Valley’s temperate climate and superior soils with great enthusiasm and determination.

Four generations later, Wallace Farms continues to thrive in the Skagit Valley, growing and distributing the finest quality potatoes available to North America's premier distributors and grocers. The same spirit that my grandfather took to cultivate a new land lives on in the culture and values of our farm. Our business  has adapted to the needs of our customers with state-of-the-art growing and supply chain systems, sustainable agricultural practices, environmental stewardship and cutting-edge organic farming methods.

My father, George Wallace and his brother Dick Wallace, started farming in the early 1950's. Although they had grown up farming with their father and uncles, who had owned a fairly large farm, they had just 14 acres between the two of them. They each had a job outside of farming, and they had no full-time employees. Farming for them was an adventure.

We look at our farm today with pride because we remember the struggles along the way and the friends we made. Today we have a wonderful group of employees – most of whom have been with us for more than 20 years. We sell our potatoes to customers throughout the US and Canada. Most importantly, we are still having fun.

In Good Harvests,

Jack Wallace

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
