Why Wallace?

The Spud Farm

Wallace Farms grows and ships potatoes from the beautiful Skagit Valley in Northwest Washington State.  Our farm cultivates an assortment of conventional and organic potato varieties of the highest quality, supplying the nation’s premier grocers and distributors.  In business for over a century, Wallace Farms brings a unique time-tested approach to farming to deliver the very finest product to our customers.

The Wallace Family Advantage

Our family has been growing potatoes in the Skagit Valley for over a century.  And our ancestors had been growing potatoes for hundreds of years before emigrating to the United States from Ardtrasna, Ireland, a coastal farming community that bears striking resemblance to the Skagit Valley.  Our unique heritage endows our farm with a deep history and environmental knowledge of the land upon which we farm.  Our patriarch, George Wallace, has first-hand history of the ebb and flow of the Skagit Valley landscape since before the  Great Depression.  His skill and historical context guide our farming practices every day; we use his time-honored insight and intuition to observe our lands and plan and harvest when the valley is most fruitful.

Our farm’s track record boasts decades of stellar business growth and a demonstrable commitment to adapting to the needs of our changing consumers with new technological methods and organic practices.  We are a BlueBook trading partner, a member of the Washington State Potato Commission and the Washington Red Potato Association.  With a tradition of world-class potato farming, we view cultivating and deepening lasting partnerships with our customers and other members of the agricultural economy as a cornerstone of our business approach.

Superior Produce, Year After Year

Wallace Farms grows several varieties of potatoes using state-of-the-art organic and conventional farming methods in order to serve the changing needs of the modern consumer.  Our most popular varieties are thin-skinned red potatoes.  We also grow white, yellow, and purple potatoes, as well as Washington State Certified Organic red, yellow and russet potatoes.  Guided by the lessons of hundreds of growing seasons, we constantly adapt to our climate and community by experimenting with different potato varieties.  Each growing season our staple crops are complimented by seasonal specials.

A Holistic and Time-Tested Approach to Family, Community and Business

It takes more than good climate to produce premium quality potatoes.  Over the years we have developed practices that take care of our soil, our crops, and the potatoes as they are harvested and packaged so that we can ship the best possible product.
